Description
Dwarf plants have a branching habit producing many bright yellow flowers with a distinct dark centre. This unique characteristic will provide a colourful display in containers or the flower border over a long period. Fun and easy to grow for adults and children.

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Try toasting the seed kernels for a healthy snack. For more details about edible flowers click here.


Companion planting: Try growing sunflowers with chives to deter aphids.

Sowing
Sow March to May.
Sowing instructions: Sow thinly, 12mm deep in drills 45cm (18in) apart in well cultivated soil raked to a fine tilth or direct into small containers. Germination takes around 21 days. When large enough to handle, thin to 30-45cm (12-18in) apart.
For earlier Flowering: Sow indoors, individually in 7.5cm (3in) pots at 20-25c (68-77F). When well grown, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions before planting out after all risk of frost into borders or containers.
