Description
Spikes of intensely fragrant, waxy white flowers are produced throughout summer, which make enthralling cut flowers. Often called the world’s most scented bulb the semi-double, fragrant tuberose flowers of this relatively unknown bulb are carried above narrow, lance shapes leaves. Polianthes tuberosa requires a minimum temperature of 15C (59F) so it is ideal for a heated greenhouse or conservatory. It can also be grown outdoors in containers or sheltered sunny borders, if it is lifted and stored frost-free over winter. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 20cm (8").

Culinary note: The flowers can be eaten cooked and are often added to soups or used to flavour soy sauces in oriental cuisine. For more details about edible flowers click here.

How to Grow
Polianthes tuberosa requires a minimum temperature of 15°C (59°F). Plant tubers in containers at a depth of 10cm (4") and grow them on until large enough to move outdoors when all risk of frost has passed. When growing tuberose in extremely mild areas, plant directly into moist, fertile, well drained soil in sheltered sunny borders.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Move containers of tuberose plants to a cool, frost-free position before the first frosts. Lift tubers from borders and store them in sand or peat in frost free conditions until ready to replant the following spring.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
