Description

Whatever your style, effortlessly beautiful Narcissus ‘Thalia’ has long been a much admired variety. Its ice-white petals and corona are slender and elegant, with a slight reflex on the petals which give it that graceful windswept look. Despite its delicate looks, like all daffodils it’s incredibly tough, emerging with complete confidence to brave the chilly early spring weather and put on a spectacular show. Returning year after year, these narcissi naturalise over time, forming bigger and more eye-catching groups every spring. Requiring virtually no maintenance at all, once these bulbs are in the ground they will remain a rewarding highlight of the spring garden to enjoy year after year. Perfect for cottage gardens, woodland or grassy areas or simply borders and pots - this versatile and unfussy plant can be used all around the garden. Height: 45cm (18”). Spread: 15cm (6”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow

Daffodil and narcissus bulbs are easy to establish in any moist, well drained soil. Plant the bulbs in full sun or semi-shade at a depth of approximately 10cm (4") and at a distance of 10cm (4") apart. Narcissus and Daffodils look particularly eye-catching when grown as drifts in borders or informal areas of grass. For a really natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land.

For an attractive indoor display, plant daffodils and narcissus in containers of bulb fibre and position them cool garage or other well ventilated, dark position at a maximum temperature of 10°C (50°F). Water sparingly when necessary to keep the compost moist. When the growing shoots reach a height of 10cm (4") move the containers to a cool bright position indoors (approximately 16°C or 60°F).

More Info
After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it in June or July. This will help to feed the bulb for the following year. When growing daffodils and narcissus that are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back. Caution: Contact with daffodil bulbs may irritate the skin and eyes. Harmful if eaten.
