Description

Lavatera 'Barnsley' is the perfect cottage garden plant, which looks almost like a branching Hollyhock, with hundreds of silky, pink flowers from June to September. Lavatera will be admired by your friends and neighbours, as well as the bees and butterflies! It's one of the top plants for attracting wildlife to the garden.

Mallow plants will put on a tremendous amount of growth in just one season; and can really fill a gap in your border, plants are very tolerant of a range of different soils. Height and spread: 2m (6').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow lavatera plants in borders and containers outdoors in moist, well drained soil in full sun. When growing lavatera in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, lavatera plants require only occasional attention. Pruning lavatera is best undertaken in spring when all risk of frost has passed and the buds begin to swell. Prune all stems hard to about 30cm above ground level. Mallow can be slow to break bud in spring so be patient with plants that might appear to have died over winter as they may still be dormant.
