Description

New for 2023 and making an exclusive launch at this year’s ‘Chelsea Plant of the Year Competition’, Hydrangea serrata 'Euphoria Pink' is sure to get pulses racing! The first Hydrangea to match vivid flowers with vivid foliage colour, Hydrangea ‘Euphoria Pink’ is the result of dedicated work by specialist Japanese breeders that is now available to UK gardeners.

The tricolour foliage is exceptional – splashes of silvery green surrounded by a bold white margin and flushed with pink tints in spring. As the pink tints fade out, lacecap-style blooms burst from pale pink buds. The cool tones of the foliage make a perfect backdrop for the two-tone, ruby-red florets, which are blushed with pale centres. This bushy, compact plant perfectly suits borders or large containers. Its foliage delivers an extended season of colour from the moment the leaves emerge in spring, through midsummer when blooming commences, right up until September. Not many plants can boast such an outstanding set of attributes! Height and spread: 60cm (24in).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Hydrangea serrata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Alternatively plant hydrangea serrata in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. In spring, remove the faded flowerheads back to the first pair of healthy buds. When well established, cut out 2 or 3 of the oldest stems to encourage the production of new replacement growth. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
