Description

Magnificent blooms and vibrant autumn foliage make these hydrangeas ideal for a prime position in the garden. Being exceptionally hardy, Hydrangea paniculata cultivars make excellent specimens for a tricky north facing position, and add glorious late summer colour to borders and woodlands. Height and spread: 250cm (98").

  • Hydrangea paniculata collection includes:
  • Hydrangea paniculata 'Limelight' - Huge, conical blooms open in a soft shade of pea green, and then gradually mature through shades of cream to a delicate soft pink.
  • Hydrangea paniculata 'Vanille Fraise' - With its neat, compact habit, this hydrangea's blooms emerge pure white and change to a delicious raspberry pink.
  • Hydrangea paniculata 'Magical Moonlight' - Large, greenish white panicles of bloom make an impressive display.

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
More Info
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: Contact with hydrangea foliage may irritate the skin and eyes and all parts are harmful if eaten.
