Description

This colourful Hemerocallis Collection contains fabulous re-blooming varieties that will begin to flower early in the season and produce further flushes throughout the summer. Like all Daylilies, the individual flowers are short lived, but the blooms of daylilies can last a full 24 hours before being replaced by new blooms the following day.

These reliable hardy perennials are undemanding and easy to grow, plus perfect for adding colour and with their picotee edged frills, add texture to summer borders. Height and spread: 60cm (24").

Hemerocallis collection comprises:

  • Hemerocallis ‘Iced Lemon’ - Refreshing citrus shades with gently ruffled outer edges.
  • Hemerocallis ‘Ida's Magic’ - Gentle shades of coral pink with a central yellow eye.
  • Hemerocallis ‘Laced Babydoll’ - Soft dusky pink blooms above a clump of slender foliage.
  • Hemerocallis ‘Startle’ - Bold scarlet red blooms with a contrasting golden centre make a dazzling display.
  • Hemerocallis ‘Thundering Ovation’ - A luxuriant blend of purple-pink and yellow petals with a delicate golden margin.

How to Grow
Plant bare root daylilies at the earliest opportunity following delivery in moist, well drained, fertile soil, and situated in full sun. Growing hemerocallis plants in dry soils or shaded conditions may reduce the number of flowers produced.

These plants are lifted from the nursery field when dormant, and sent to you in late autumn or spring for planting. They often look dead on arrival, but they are just resting in the dormant period and will establish quickly for a strong start in the garden come spring. Set out in prepared soil in holes wide enough and deep enough to lay out the roots. Tread down the planting soil to knock out air pockets. Water well to settle. Apply a mulch to protect roots from cold temperatures. If conditions prevent immediate planting, set roughly into loose soil or a pot of compost (‘heeling in’) to protect the roots. The growth points of most bare root perennials should be set about an inch below the soil surface. New growth will appear in spring.

More Info
For the best performance keep day lily plants well watered whilst they are in flower and deadhead faded daylily flowers regularly. In autumn remove any old, ragged foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of daylily plants.
