One of the most winter-hardy cultivars, Grape ‘Beta’ is a superb choice for northern gardens. This mid-season variety produces high yields of small, blue-black grapes that are perfect for making wine, juice or jellies.
As well as crops of tasty grapes, grapevines also make attractive garden features. These vigorous vines will quickly cover a trellis or pergola, their large lobed leaves providing shade and privacy as well as lovely autumn colour.

Water grapes vines only during dry periods as excessive watering can reduce the quality of the fruit. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the vines in spring to retain moisture at their roots throughout summer. Prune grape vines in winter and train them in summer. Do not allow them to carry a crop of grapes until their third summer.
