1 Packet (30 Seeds) (23973)
Sow gerbera seed from January to March on the surface of a good seed compost and gently firm down. Do not cover the seed as they require light for germination. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 18-24C (65-75F) or seal it inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 15-25 days. Keep the soil damp but not wet.
When gerbera plants are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When gerbera daisy plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant into well drained soil at a distance of 40cm (16") apart or grow in containers in full sun.
CAUTION: Gerbera seeds are very fine. To open packet, hold over a sheet of white paper, cut along three sides of the inner pack and carefully open out flat. Tap the packet gently to dislodge the seed.
