How to Grow
Enjoy the heavenly perfume of freesias on Christmas day! Above clumps of sword-shaped leaves hover arching sprays of exotic, funnel-shaped blooms in vivid shades of mauve, orange, white, yellow and pink. Presented in a decorative pot, the long-lasting flowers of Freesia Mixed make a lovely Christmas gift,or use them to add colour and fragrance to your Christmas dinner table. Colours will vary. Grow in a well-lit spot that remains cool, water at intervals to keep the soil moist and feed with a high potash fertiliser every couple of weeks. Potted Freesia are normally treated as annuals, however, if you wish to save your bulbs, when flowering has finished, cut off faded stems and reduce watering as leaves turn yellow. When the leaves have withered and died they can be cut off. Remove the corms and store in a paper bag in an airing cupboard or conservatory at around 26°C (80°F) with a humidity of 75-80%, for between 14-20 weeks. .
