Foxglove ‘Lavender Carousel’ bears lavender-pink flowers dotted with spots. A classic cottage garden perennial in an improved form, ‘Carousel’ foxgloves are distinguished by having blooms which wrap around the whole stem, so plants are densely clustered with flowers for a better display. They are also dwarf varieties, well suited to growing in containers or the front/middle of borders. Foxgloves are a classic cottage garden perennial – their erect spikes contrast beautifully with mound forming plants and their thimble-like flowers are adored by bumblebees and other pollinators. Although they are biennial, plants can be left to set seed and produce new generations each year. Height: 75cm (30in). Spread: 45cm (18in).

Transplant 45-60cm (24in) apart into flowering site in the autumn for flowering the following year.
Alternatively, sow the tiny seeds sparingly into seed trays using a fine seed compost. Do not cover the seed. Keep trays in a moist environment such as a plastic bag or propagator and do not allow them to dry out. When seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into 9cm pots and grow on. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 45-60cm (18-24in) apart. An early sowing will occasionally produce flowers in the same year.
Water foxglove plants regularly until fully established. Foxgloves will grow in most soils although they prefer acidic soils in part shade. These biennials will produce a low leaf rosette in their first year and flower the following summer. Sowing them two years in succession and allowing plants to self-seed will ensure a continuous display.
