was £9.29Just£8.99
The Kew Pollinators range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to attract and support a wide range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies and beetles, as well as a number of other important pollinating insects. Helping these pollinators to thrive is hugely important for our eco-system as a whole and these seeds, in their striking packaging inspired by artwork from the Kew archives, will help to create the environment which they need to thrive, with varieties chosen to help a wide range of pollinating insects, including some night flowering plants to help moths which also play an important part in our gardens.
A superb border perennial which is always busy with the hum of Bees and other pollinating insects. This Blue Globe thistle boasts spherical heads of electric-blue flowers that rise upon slender stems, above the silvery, thistle-like foliage. Echinops ritro subsp. ruthenicus is hardy and drought tolerant once established, making it a reliable choice for hot, sunny herbaceous borders. The blooms make superb cut flowers which can also be dried for everlasting displays. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 45cm (18").

1 Packet (20 Seeds) (KB7559)
Sow Echinops from January to April on the surface of a good seed compost, lightly cover with compost or vermiculite, and gently firm down. Place in a propagator at a temperature of 20-25C (70-75F), or seal inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 10-20 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors.
When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out in a sunny spot on light, well drained soil.
