Datura are stunning specimen plants, but they can get rather large for the average patio or conservatory. However, the ‘Ballerina’ series are neat, dwarf plants which are much more manageable but don’t compromise on flower power. Their dramatic, upward-facing, double trumpet flowers are borne in soft yellow, white and purple shades including some bicolors. Height and Spread: 60cm (2ft).
Please note that the seeds and all parts of Datura are poisonous. Please handle with care and always wash hands after handling seeds or plants.

Sow February to March. Soak seed in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Place seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep at a temperature of between 15-20ºC (59-68ºF). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination usually takes 21-60 days.
When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Plant out once plants are well grown, 1.2m (4ft) apart. For best results, provide a moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Do not feed plants, but water well.
Remove seedpods regularly to encourage further blooms. Plants can be overwintered in frost-free conditions. Cut back to the base and keep plants barely moist until spring. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, toxic if eaten.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
