Description

Towering in stature, this robust variety outlasts any standard basil, growing for over 10 to 12 weeks longer and ensuring a continuous supply of leaves all season from mid June to October. Known as 'Everleaf' for its extended longevity, it has short internodes and a well-branched structure making it an attractive and space-saving choice for beds, containers or greenhouses. Enjoy the classic Genovese taste in homemade pesto, salads and other Mediterranean dishes. With glossy, dark green foliage and a tidy columnar habit, Basil 'Everleaf Emerald Towers' is a true gardener's delight. No more sowing seeds in fear of early flowering - 'Everleaf Emerald Towers' guarantees a fragrant and lasting basil harvest. Height: 90cm (35in). Spread: 30cm (12in).

Sowing
Sow in a propagator on a windowsill or thinly in pots or trays in a greenhouse at approx 10-15C using a good quality compost. Cover seeds with 0.5cm compost. (Germination 14-21 days). Grow on, planting out when the frost risk has passed 20-25cm apart. Can also be sown thinly direct outside at a depth of 0.5cm. Grows best in well-drained soil in a sunny position of in the greenhouse. Remove flowers to prolong leaf harvest.
More Info
When all risk of frost has passed, harden basil plants off before planting out in a sheltered sunny position in well drained, fertile sandy soil; or potting into patio containers, window boxes, or windowsill pots indoors. Water moderately taking care to avoid splashing the leaves. Harvest basil leaves regularly when required to promote fresh new growth and pinch out any flowers that appear to prolong the harvest period. Culinary note: Basil can be dried or frozen for using later on, or added to oils and vinegars for extra flavour.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
