Description

For an all-encompassing sensory experience you can’t beat the award-winning Azalea 'Daviesii’, a variety renowned for its gorgeous fragrance as well as its stunning flowers and interesting foliage. In May and June this deciduous Azalea is covered in apricot and pink buds that open into beautifully scented creamy flowers dappled with a yellow flare, the blooms eventually maturing to pure white. In autumn ‘Daviesii’ provides another season of interest when the foliage turns yellow, orange and red. This medium-sized Azalea will transform a boring shady border into a spring spectacle with real wow-factor. RHS Award of Garden Merit. Maximum height and spread: 120-150cm (4- 5ft).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Azaleas in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many azaleas can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Azalea plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Azaleas are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
More Info
Water Azalea plants regularly throughout the growing season. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed Azaleas in spring with a slow release fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds. Border grown Azaleas will appreciate an autumn mulch to protect their shallow roots from winter cold. Take care not to mound the mulch too close to the stem as this may cause it to rot.
