Amaranthus ‘Molten Fire’ is a fabulous ‘edimental’ which makes a flamboyant addition to the flower border or the veg plot. Dark red, nearly black foliage explodes into a crown of young, molten-red leaves creating a dramatic contrast. The leaves of Amaranthus ‘Molten Fire’ can be eaten as a spinach substitute, although unlike spinach, Amaranthus has good resistance to drought and is less susceptible to bolting. Plants can also be left to run to seed for a harvest of Amaranth grain in the autumn. Height: 1m (39in). Spread: 50cm (20in).
