Inject some bohemian style into your borders with this unconventional Allium. Allium scorodoprasum ‘Art’ bears small flowerheads, each one composed of indigo bulbils from which sprout wayward tentacles carrying purple florets.
Allium scorodoprasum ‘Art’ is a masterpiece in texture. Thin wiry stems support the heads, swaying gently in the breeze and creating airy veils of colour against the heavier masses of other perennials. For the best effect, plant them in dense groups. Flowering in June, the blooms last a long time in the garden and in the vase. They are prized by florists for adding textural interest to both dried and fresh flower arrangements. Height: 50cm (20in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
