Enjoy a bumper harvest of this ultimate summer fruit with our superb Fruit Strawberry Collection! Nothing beats fresh homegrown strawberries, and this sublime selection is hard to beat, bringing together four exceptional varieties chosen for their flavour, yields and range of ripening times to keep you supplied with tantalising fresh fruits all summer long. An absolute essential for the allotment or kitchen garden. Strawberries and cream, anyone?

Fruit Strawberry Collection comprises bare root plants of each of the following varieties:

  • Strawberry ‘Marshmello’ (mid-season) – possibly the sweetest strawberry of all, and you won’t find it in the supermarket! Fabulous flavour is paired with great disease resistance in strong, vigorous plants. Home-growing is your chance to enjoy these divine fruits that leave supermarket varieties far behind! Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 30cm (12in).
  • Strawberry ‘Malling Centenary’ (early- to mid-season) – an outstanding variety producing heavy crops right from its first year, this easy-to-grow strawberry produces richly flavoured berries in just 60 days, and keeps cropping for up to four months! Height: 30cm (12in). Spread: 50cm (20in).
  • Strawberry ‘Korona’ (early- to mid-season) – a high-yielding variety with strong resistance to a range of common diseases, producing large, juicy fruits which are very dark in colour and have excellent flavour. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 30cm (12in).
  • Strawberry ‘Pegasus’ (mid- to late-season) – an RHS award-winning variety producing medium-large, soft, sweet and juicy fruit. With great resistance to verticillium wilt, crown rot and mildew, ‘Pegasus’ is ideal for organic growing, and thrives on heavy soils. Height: 20cm (8in). Spread: 30cm (12in).

24 pack contains 6 of each variety; 48 pack contains 12 of each variety.

How to Grow
Plant strawberry plants in autumn or late spring in a sheltered, sunny position in well manured, free draining soil. Plant strawberry runners every 45cm (18") in rows spaced at 75cm (30") apart. Spread out their roots and place them in the soil at a level where the crown of the plant is just poking above the surface. Avoid planting them too deeply as this may cause them to rot. Alternatively try growing strawberry plants in hanging baskets or in specially designed strawberry planters for the patio.
More Info

Water strawberries frequently throughout the growing season and weed regularly between rows. When growing strawberry plants in baskets and containers, they will also need feeding every two weeks.

From early summer, remove any runners that are produced as these will weaken the plants vigour. Protect the developing fruit from slugs and snails by spreading straw around each plant. Positioning a net over the plants will also prevent crop damage by birds. The netting and straw can be removed after cropping to allow better air flow around the crown of the plant. Mulch strawberry plants with well rotted manure in spring.

Although strawberry plants will continue to fruit in successive years, the crop will become considerably reduced and it is advisable to completely replace strawberry plants every 3 years.
