Persian Buttercups are surely the most lavish of spring flowers – little wonder that they are prized by florists and come with a high price tag as a cut flower! Ranunculus 'Red' boasts endless layers of scarlet petals to create deep rosette flowerheads that dance above the jagged foliage.
These beauties are easy to grow at the front of borders or filling containers with an extravagant late spring display. Protect them from cold, wet winter weather and you too can enjoy a home-grown display of these opulent blooms. Perfect for cut flowers gardens, rockeries, containers, and sheltered borders where they will bridge the colour gap between spring bulbs and summer perennials. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Plant ranunculus in free draining soil in a sheltered, sunny position. Alternatively grow ranunculus tubers in containers of loam based compost mixed with plenty of horticultural grit to improve drainage. Plant the claw-like tubers at a depth of 8cm (3”) with their claws pointing downwards.
More Info Feed and water ranunculus plants regularly while they are in active growth. After flowering, allow the foliage to die back completely before removing it in late summer. Reduce watering and allow the soil to dry out in order to provide the tubers with a dry, dormant period. Move containers of half hardy ranunculus to a frost-free position during winter to protect the tubers from cold, wet weather. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
