The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) and the Royal Horticultural Society Open Gardens

The Society of Garden Designers (SGD) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) are launching a new series of garden events for this summer.

30 rarely seen gardens both public and private designed by members of the SGD will be open across the UK, celebrating the best of British garden design. Take a look at Helen Elks-Smith Traditional Purbeck stone farmhouse with contemporary garden on 25th September in Langton Matravers or Ian Smith's extensive water garden on 26th June in Brightling, there is plenty to suit everyone.

The event allows garden and design enthusiasts a chance to see some of the most inspiring gardens create in the last three decades.

Opening times:

June 26th - 2pm til 6pm
September 25th - 12pm til 4pm

Different gardens open on different days so be sure to check the schedule before you go.

"Open Gardens is one of a series of events to mark the Society’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year. With an anniversary theme of ‘30 years and 3 minutes’ the Society aims to expand on the theory that just three minutes exposure to green space helps reduces stress and to explore how vital gardens and public spaces are for our quality of life; a subject that has long been known, but has never before been so pressing".
