A highlight of the gardening year, RHS Chelsea Flower Show starts on Tuesday 24th May. Whether you're a regular visitor or it's your first time, there will be plenty for you to see and do. If you're lucky enough to have tickets for Saturday, you might even be able to pick up a few bargains in the sell-off - a hugely popular part of the show when the exhibitors sell the plants from their displays.
The show gardens at Chelsea always pull in huge crowds and this year's selection is no exception. More than 30 gardens will be on show and some of the very best garden designers have been fortunate enough to be shortlisted and their designs will be on display next week. The show garden designers and their teams have been working hard in the last couple weeks to ensure that everything is ready in time for the show. The exceptionally dry weather we've had has given the growers a challenge, as many flowers flowered 2 weeks earlier than normal and designers have had to adapt their show gardens to enable them to use varieties that will (hopefully) bloom at just the right time. And judging by comments we've seen on Facebook and Twitter, the designers are very excited and somewhat nervous about the grand opening and judging...
The British Heart Foundation Garden is definitely worth a look - it celebrates the foundation's 50th birthday and has been cleverly designed to reflect the movement of the heart's veins and arteries.
The Skyshades Garden shows how to use eco-friendly materials and native plants to turn an office garden into a haven for wildlife.
Australian, Malaysian, Japanese, urban, relaxing, romantic and traditional kitchen gardens play a big part in this year's show garden themes, so there really is something for everyone.
Thompson & Morgan will be at the Chelsea Flower Show at stand EA36 on Eastern Avenue, selling a great range of flower and vegetable seeds. We'd love to see you there!
