The Hunt is on for UK’s best gardeners.

GARDEN News’ great annual contest to find the country’s best gardeners is back and this year it could be you!

The Gardener of the Year competition has long been regarded as one of Britain’s most prestigious garden competitions and now it’s even bigger and better with superb prizes from Thompson & Morgan. Whether you’ve got a small flat with a window box or hanging basket, a patio brimming with colour, an attractive allotment or any size of garden, you're bound to find a category that’s right for you.

For decades, our prestigious Gardener of the Year competition has been the accolade all gardeners want to win. If it looks like this year's shaping up to be a good one for your garden, there's nothing stopping you from having a go. All you have to do to enter is fill in the Entry form available from the Garden News website and send in some photos. The expert judges will narrow your entries down to a shortlist of gardens that will be visited and judged this summer, but even if your garden doesn't make it onto the shortlist or go on to win one of the prizes, you'll still be a winner because everyone who enters gets a £5 voucher from Thompson & Morgan.

Thompson & Morgan are also providing a fantastic prize for our overall winner. The lucky Gardener of the Year 2011 who scoops this top prize will get free Thompson & Morgan seeds for life (to the value of £100 per year). That's not to be sniffed at, so don't delay, get your entry and photos sent in now!

Get your entry in!

The competition is easy to enter and free. And apart from the overall Gardener of the Year title, there are lots more categories you can enter. There are prizes for best front garden, best small garden, best patio, best hanging basket and best container, as well as categories for the best greenhouse and the best vegetable garden. We are also offering prizes for an unsung gardening hero and the best community gardening project.

Now’s the time to get your entry in and start to primp and preen your garden and get it ready for this year’s competition. If you’ve created a wonderful display to be proud of, it could put you among this year’s prize winners! The best gardens are featured in GN, giving inspiration to thousands of gardeners, and all our previous winners say that sharing their garden with other readers increases the pleasure of creating it. So put your gardening skills against your fellow gardeners and have some fun too! You never know, that plot you’ve always been so proud of could make you one of our worthy winners.
