If you ideally want to spend more time outdoors in your garden but are put off because of the cold temperatures, or you’d just like to sit outdoors with a cuppa but feel it’s a bit too chilly, why not consider an electric heater.
These days, far more efficient, environmentally friendly and cost effective heaters are available. No need to light a fire - especially if you are in a smokeless zone and are not able to enjoy one of our chimeneas, instead, with a flick of a switch you can have instant warmth, directed exactly where you want it!
If your seating, or work area, is close to your house, the easiest answer is to install a simple wall heater. Many have variable heat settings to suit your needs. Using either halogen, quartz or infra red technology, these heaters don’t waste enrgy by heating the surrounding air, much like old fashioned electric heaters did, instead the heat only warms nearby people and objects and no heat is lost in the wind.
Free standing patio heaters are portable, safe and easy to use. They come with either a weighted base or stable tripod type stand and some even have safety cut outs if the base is knocked - making them ultra safe to use when children are about. They are all directional and are designed to heat only the objects near them, rather than wastefully heat the air. Infrared technology makes them super efficient and cost effective to use. It is also possible to buy a table top version of this style of heater too.
Becoming more and more popular as we are discovering the joy of using our outdoor space throughout the year rather than just in the height of summer are heaters that are designed to fit on the central pole of a garden umbrella. These cleverly designed heaters are perfectly safe to use and tend to be a lower wattage than other patio heaters, with three or four heads which will warm everyone sitting around the table so that nobody will be left in the cold. These can also be fitted to a tripod if you wish to have your view of the evening sky uninterrupted.
If you have a pergola, arbour, gazebo or even a summerhouse that you would like to add a little extra heat to, then another idea is a hanging heater, these can easily be attached to a chain and suspended at whatever height is comfortable for you, meaning you can sit directly below it and enjoy the warmth it provides directly to you.
Whichever of the above you choose, it will extend the use of your garden seating so that you will enjoy the great outdoors almost all year round.
