Description
Weigela florida 'Minor Black' is a small and neat variety of this popular garden shrub. It's compact habit makes it ideal for planting in containers and raised beds on patio and decking, or as a deciduous shrub for borders in small and medium sized gardens. The dark purple leaves contrast brilliantly with the rose-pink, funnel shaped flowers that emerge in late spring and early summer and cover the whole plant. The nectar-rich blooms also provide a valuable food source for bumblebees. This reliable hardy shrub is very easy to care for and can be grown in most locations. Height and Spread: 75cm (30").

How to Grow
Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
