Database Administrator

Position: Full time, permanent position- Monday to Friday

Location: Remote, candidates must be based in the UK

We're in search of an adept and seasoned DBA, preferably with diverse database management experience. The ideal candidate should possess recent expertise in MS SQL, MS SQL Server Management. Moreover, as we're gearing up for a migration of our current infrastructure, familiarity with database migrations and proficiency in alternative database environments like MySQL and PostgreSQL would significantly elevate your candidacy.

This is a remote working role although you would be required to come to our Paignton, Devon site occasionally

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing and optimising MS SQL database server.
• Using appropriate tools to identify database efficiency issues and taking proactive measures to identify bottlenecks and resolve them.
• Identifying areas for enhancement and implementing solutions.
• Establishing and enforcing robust security measures to safeguard data integrity and prevent unauthorized access.
• Conducting routine backups, restoration operations, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitoring and maintaining the performance of our web servers and backend infrastructure.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Take accountability for the overall performance, reliability, and security of the database systems and ensure timely issue resolution to prevent disruptions.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

• Experience as a Database Administrator, or similar role.
• Experience in database design, data modelling, SQL, backup & recovery, performance tuning, warehousing, scripting, and security.
• Microsoft SQL Server knowledge to a high level.
• T-SQL/SQL knowledge to a high level.
• Experience in server management, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable:

• Experience with other database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Previous experience in database migrations.
• Experience working with eCommerce websites.

This is a full time permanent position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00.
